More and more residents from different Sofia neighbourhoods are organizing protests against local authorities’ urban development plans resulting in less green spaces. The news is that in one of the quarters – Mladost, the protest leader won the local mayor elections and is now the head of this district – the second largest in Bulgaria’s capital and in heavy competition with the ruling party candidate. At the same time many citizens are contacting us as a last ray of hope to do something against the quick rising of buildings on green public spaces or on suspiciously bought private green spaces. Unfortunately, the only thing we can do right now is to try explaining why this situation escalated and how it can be resolved.
